We always adopt out kittens in pairs
When you adopt kittens at the Haags Dierencentrum, we always place them in pairs. People can give a lot of love, but they cannot replace the social interaction between cats. Playing, learning, and communicating together is essential. That is why we consciously choose duo placements. Moreover, this helps prevent behavioral problems later in life. How the cat adoption process works

Are you seriously interested in adopting kittens at the Haags Dierencentrum? Then please fill out the adoption form completely. This gives us prior insight into your family situation, living environment, and any other pets. You can also indicate what you are looking for, such as a preference for a female or male, age, and character.
After receiving the form, we will contact you as soon as possible for an appointment.
Open appointments: what can you expect?
Our appointments take place in the afternoon, between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. During an open appointment, you can view several kittens. This way, we can compare together which kittens best suit your situation. Is there a match? Then the kittens can often go home with you immediately.
Adoption costs and conditions
The adoption fee for one kitten under six months old is €190. For this, the kitten is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. We also require a valid ID. Payment can only be made by debit card. We also ask you to arrive on time or cancel in a timely manner.
Kittens stay with us for at least nine weeks
Our kittens stay in the shelter for at least nine weeks. They can only move once they are at a good weight and have had a final vet check. Sometimes kittens stay longer, for example, due to a reaction to a vaccination. Therefore, we can never guarantee an exact placement date.
Kittens are vulnerable
Kittens are young and sensitive to stress. As a result, their resistance may temporarily decrease after a move. Therefore, pay close attention to symptoms such as sneezing, diarrhea, or lethargy. Vaccinations provide good protection but never offer 100% certainty.
The importance of socialization
Socialization is crucial for kittens. In the first few weeks, they learn to deal with people, animals, and sounds. When you adopt kittens at the Haags Dierencentrum, they are often in the second socialization phase. It is precisely then that it is important to continue offering positive experiences and to avoid stress.
