Missing cat? Here is what you can do immediately
Is your cat missing? That is very distressing. You want your cat back home safely as soon as possible. Therefore, take action immediately.
Send an email as soon as possible to kat@haagsdierencentrum.nl with the subject line:
MISSING CAT – cat’s name – color
Include in your email:
Name, address, and phone number
Information about the disappearance (where and when)
Age and gender (neutered/spayed)
Date you last saw your cat
Distinguishing features
As an attachment: a clear poster or sharp photos
Make an appointment to see if your cat is at the Haags Dierencentrum.
What to do if your cat goes missing
Email us immediately after the disappearance (see above)
Do you have an appointment? Always bring a valid ID
We are legally required to keep all found animals in quarantine for 14 days after arrival. During this period, cats are vaccinated and microchipped if necessary. After this legal retention period, the shelter becomes the owner of the cat and rehoming may follow.
The costs for microchipping, vaccination, and any medical care, as well as boarding costs, will be charged to the owner.

Tips for a missing cat
Check if the microchip is correctly registered via www.chipnummer.nl
Always email us, even if your cat is microchipped; chips are not always readable
Check if your Amivedi report has been processed correctly
View found cats on www.amivedi.nl
Redistribute the missing flyer after ±10 days
Go searching in your neighborhood during the evening hours
Always take a carrier with you while searching
Important information
We always check if an incoming cat is microchipped. If the chip details are publicly registered, we will contact the owner by phone, email, or letter. Therefore, it is essential that the chip details are up-to-date and public.
Please note: we cannot process requests via phone or Facebook to check if your cat is staying with us.
Found cats are always taken to the shelter in the municipality where they were found. For example, if your cat is found in Voorburg, it will go to the Julialaantje shelter in Rijswijk.
