Why adopt a cat from the Haags Dierencentrum?
When you adopt a cat from the Haags Dierencentrum, you’re not just giving them a new home, but also a fair second chance at a beautiful life. That’s what makes adoption so special. Additionally, you can count on excellent guidance and care:
- We personally help you find a cat that is a good match for your situation and wishes.
- All our animals receive a medical check-up from a veterinarian.
- They are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas.
- Cats are spayed or neutered beforehand.
- Even after the adoption, you can contact us for advice and support during the initial period. We offer a 14-day post-adoption service.
In this way, we work together to ensure a good match and a great start for both the animal and the owner.
Adopting a cat: how it works
Fill in the adoption form
Would you like to adopt a cat? Then we ask you to first fill in an adoption form. Adopting cats from the Haags Dierencentrum is always done by appointment.
Based on your form, our animal caretakers will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the possibilities.
Finding the right match
Using the information from your form, we carefully look for which cat best suits your situation, home, and wishes.
Next, we’ll schedule an appointment to meet. It may happen that there is no suitable match at that time. In that case, we’re happy to think along with you and can keep you informed if you wish.
Meeting the cat
During your visit to the Haags Dierencentrum, you’ll meet the cat that might be a good fit for you. Our staff will tell you everything about their character, behavior, and care.
In many cases, a cat can go home with you quite soon after the initial meeting, provided everything feels right on both sides. It is also possible that you might be a better match for a different cat. This is all decided in consultation with our staff.
Adoption and aftercare
Is it a match? Then you will become the new owner of your cat. Congratulations!
You’ll sign an adoption agreement and the cat’s microchip will be registered in your name. We’re also here for you after the adoption. During the initial period, you can contact us with questions about behavior or care, so that you can get off to a good start together.
