Events
Events at the Haags Dierencentrum
The Haags Dierencentrum regularly organizes and attends events focused on animal welfare, adoption, and community involvement. Through our events, we bring people closer to our shelter dogs and cats and demonstrate the importance of quality animal care. For us, events are a way to connect, inform, and make an impact together.
Whether you’re an animal lover, considering adopting a shelter pet, or want to support the Haags Dierencentrum: our events offer an accessible and inspiring way to get to know our work. We organize both small-scale activities and larger public moments, always with the animals’ well-being as our starting point.
From adoption days to partnerships
Our events consist of a wide range of activities. Think of special adoption days, open moments by appointment, informative meetings, and collaborations with partners from The Hague. During these moments, our staff and volunteers share their knowledge about animal care, adoption, and responsible pet ownership.
In addition, we regularly collaborate with organizations, schools, and initiatives dedicated to animal welfare. Campaigns, media visits, and social projects are also part of our events. Through these partnerships, we increase awareness and show how important structural attention for animals is.
Want to know which events are coming up or curious how you can contribute? Keep an eye on this page and our website for current events and announcements. Together, we ensure a better future for animals in The Hague.
Guided tour
Curious about what goes on in the enclosures and treatment rooms at the HDC? From now on, we are offering exclusive guided tours! Our volunteers and staff will take you to places that are normally closed to the public. Grab this chance for a unique experience.
Kids Club 2026
The HDC Kids Club of the Haags Dierencentrum is a club for true animal friends aged 6 to 12. Four times a year, the animal center organizes a fun and educational afternoon where children discover how to treat animals well and what happens at the animal shelter.
Seniors Club
The HDC is organizing the Seniors Club for the first time this year. During these cozy afternoons, seniors are very welcome to stop by for coffee, tea, and a treat. It’s a relaxed moment to be together, catch up, and enjoy the various shelter animals.
Christmas Lunch
The holidays are a time for coming together, including at the Haags Dierencentrum. This year, we made our Christmas lunch extra special thanks to the help of a few enthusiastic volunteers from Exact and a visit from Alderman Barker, who stopped by with some Dutch doughnuts.
Open Day 2025
On October 4, the Haags Dierencentrum celebrated World Animal Day with a successful Open Day full of animal love, children’s activities, and enthusiastic visitors. Despite a few drops of rain, it was a day full of fun, involvement, and beautiful memories.
City Medal
We put a few special volunteers in the spotlight! Our volunteers mean so much to the Haags Dierencentrum. Some of them have been dedicated to our animals for more than 10 years.
You are all heroes, and that deserved an extra celebration!
