This ranges from physical examination, microchipping and vaccination upon entry, starting a treatment plan and, if necessary, operating on the animal.
Boarding animals are also welcome at the clinic during their stay!
Our clinic employs veterinarian Nadine, Jasmijn and Allie.
Together with assistants Mirjam and Jessica .
Our volunteers Joke, Edith and Anneke complete the team.
Our clinic is equipped with a treatment room, operating room with anesthesia monitoring, recording room, X-ray room and an in-house pharmacy with space for diagnostic testing.
All animals visit the treatment room at least once during their stay. Here on a table (or for somewhat larger dogs simply on the floor) each newly arrived animal receives a physical examination. Heart, lungs, belly, coat, eyes, ears, general condition, teeth and weight – everything is looked at and noted on the patient card.
In addition, the assistant makes sure that all the information is processed in a patient file, the computer and in the vaccination booklet. Of course, stray animals also receive immediate vaccinations and treatment for fleas and worms. Kittens staying in foster care also come in for their check-up and first vaccination. Then they often get the second vaccination after they have already found a new home. The new owner can make an appointment for that at the clinic.
Finally, if an animal has been placed and still shows some symptoms within two weeks, the new owner may also stop by here for a consultation.
This room is busy all day with appointments, blood draws, pre-anesthetic examinations, onrush of animal care workers with questions. In short, never boring!
Almost every day the operating room is in use. It is possible to perform sterile surgeries here. Besides castrations, operations such as cesarean sections, amputations, removal of bladder stones and removal of tumors are also performed here.
We can now do all this with even better anesthesia monitoring, which was made possible thanks to the donation of a fund. This new equipment allows us to constantly monitor breathing, heart rate and temperature during surgery, among other things.
We also do regular dental treatments of the animals.
Our admission room has room for several cats. A reason for stay can be observation, waking up after surgery or admission of a sick animal that needs intensive care.
It is important for animals to wake up from anesthesia in peace and quiet. This is possible in our hospitalization. In doing so, they are given a heat mat to keep their temperature after surgery. If a placed cat comes in for castration, it is nice to get a blanket from home. This way they have a familiar scent with them to reduce stress.
Animals that have to stay longer in the hospital, for example because they need intensive care, are given a nice pen of their own with all the trimmings.
Our clinic team and animal caretakers ensure that the animals lack nothing. If necessary, the veterinarian performs check-ups several times a day. This way, the animal is monitored throughout the day and quick action can be taken. In addition to medical care, it is also important that the animals feel at ease. As little stress as possible and the best care, that’s what we stand for as a team.
An essential part of our clinic is the X-ray machine. Because several times a week we take X-rays here. This is important in making diagnoses. Think, for example, of bladder photos in case of constipation or the detection of tumors and abnormalities such as osteoarthritis.
Before that, we stood here for a long time in the dark with a red lamp through developing and fixing fluid to develop x-rays. Thanks to the help of a fund, we were able to purchase new modern equipment for this room in 2019. This allowed us to replace the old equipment from 1965.
Now we can take sharper pictures and we can work faster, which certainly helps with stress reduction for our dogs and cats. Moreover, the environment also benefits from this method of development. Finally, peer consultation and consultation with specialists has become much faster and easier. At the touch of a button we send an email with the pictures.
The pharmacy is not only the storage for our medication, but also the place where we have a small laboratory in one corner. Here we can do basic blood tests, have an oven for keeping IV fluid warm and making cultures. In addition, the microscope for urine and stool tests, among other things, is used extensively. Also making staining for cytology can be done in this room.
In addition, it is great that we have this in house as well, which contributes to quick diagnoses.
And finally, every cat goes on our scales here, for monitoring weight and determining dosage of medication or anesthesia.
