Animal Caregiver Dog Department

Job Description.

For our dog department team we are looking for an enthusiastic and talented animal caretaker who stands firmly in his/her shoes. In this versatile and exciting position – within the oldest and (almost) largest shelter in the Netherlands – you will be responsible for the overall daily care of our dogs. During the care you are able to identify medical abnormalities and take action on these in consultation with our veterinarians. You are good at informing and advising clients about our dogs in a personal, professional manner. The position is for 36 hours per week. You will work together with colleagues in a fixed schedule from Monday to Sunday. Working hours 08.00 to 17.00 hours.

Do you

  • have at least a completed MBO education in the field of animal care/para-veterinary?
  • knowledge of and affinity with the shelter system (e.g. as a volunteer, internship)?
  • willingness to roll up your sleeves?
  • good communication and social skills, are you a real wizard in dealing with customers?
  • it in you to be able to work independently but also as part of a team?
  • no objection to working on weekends?
  • up-to-date digital knowledge (Docasoft, Word, Outlook, etc.)?
  • a driving license and car if you do not live in The Hague?

What we offer you

A super challenging job in which you are an important link between the dogs, clients and your colleagues. You will be part of the oldest and (almost) largest shelter in the Netherlands where we take in about 1,200 stray dogs and cats annually, where all colleagues are well trained, where we work with a large number of volunteers, have a fully equipped in-house clinic with two veterinarians and where we offer professional boarding facilities for both dogs and cats.
The salary is a minimum of € 2,071.00 p/month. General conditions include a travel allowance, pension provision and vacation pay.
