We’re absolutely thrilled with the new cat enclosures we’ve been able to realize in our “Infirmary 2,” thanks to the generous support of the Abri voor Dieren Foundation. These new spaces offer more room for the cats, feature retractable partitions, and are easy to keep clean—perfect for accommodating our temporary guests.
We’ve also been able to install new enclosures in the intake room, where newly arrived cats are housed before being seen by the clinic.
Replacing the old cages was essential, and with help from the Abri voor Dieren Foundation, the living environment for our cats has become significantly more comfortable.
Renovation of Our Clinic
Since 1910, we’ve been fortunate to have our own in-house clinic—an essential part of our organization that helps us achieve our goal of promoting and improving animal welfare. It is crucial that the stray dogs and cats arriving at our shelter receive immediate care and attention.
Much has changed over the years. In terms of knowledge and expertise, our clinic team has certainly kept pace with modern developments. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the clinic’s equipment. Most of it is outdated and has long been due for replacement. This has sometimes made it challenging for the team to provide the best possible medical care.
But that has now changed! Thanks to a generous donation from the Abri voor Dieren Foundation, we were able to renew several essential parts of our clinic. One example is the new anesthesia machine, which allows us to monitor animals more effectively during surgery and fine-tune anesthesia more precisely—greatly benefiting animal welfare.
By the end of 2019, we had a functional and partially renovated clinic in place. The Abri voor Dieren Foundation played a major role in making this possible!
Shelters and Play Equipment in the Exercise Fields
The Het Waardige Dier Foundation contributed to the wellbeing of our shelter dogs by providing beautiful play equipment for our exercise fields. The shelters offer shade on sunny days and keep us dry when it rains!
The added value of the components funded by the foundation is truly immense. The shelters have already proven their worth many times by providing essential shade for both dogs and volunteers. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to use the exercise fields for a large part of the day.
The play equipment is also a fantastic addition to the fields. It provides natural stimulation and encourages both mental and physical activity in a playful way. Right after installation, we put it to the test—and the results were amazing!
