Vacancy: Shelter veterinarian (32-36 hours) wanted

The Hague Animal Center Foundation (HDC) is looking for a companion animal veterinarian for 32-36 hours per week. Do you have experience with first-line surgical procedures and an affinity with the shelter system?

As the oldest and one of the largest shelters in the Netherlands, we provide professional care and shelter for cats and dogs offered in the The Hague region. The HDC has had its own animal clinic and veterinarian for more than 100 years.

We are looking

An enthusiastic veterinarian with a focus on companion animals. You can work independently and in a team and have strong communication skills. An affinity with Shelter Medicine and good first-line surgical skills are a plus.

Tasks and responsibilities

The veterinarian is responsible for veterinary care in the broad sense of all shelter and boarding animals within the HDC. The work is carried out with the utmost care, using modern methods and techniques where possible.

In addition, the veterinarian is responsible for the optimal and efficient functioning of the clinic. The clinic is well equipped, the hygienic conditions and the working conditions are very good from both a work and occupational health and safety point of view. The veterinarian also keeps up with developments in the broad sense in the sector and advises the Operational Manager, solicited and unsolicited, on possible improvements and/or adjustments that can improve the quality of veterinary care.

We offer

We offer a challenging position within an enthusiastic team of a fellow shelter veterinarian, experienced assistants, highly motivated animal caretakers and volunteers. The HDC has a well-equipped first-line practice with, among other things, ultrasound, X-ray, gas narcosis, blood analysis equipment and a dental unit.
