Due to corona, there are currently modified rules regarding accepting your pet. When you make an appointment we will tell you more about this.
Castration or Sterilisation
If you have adopted a kitten from us and would like to have it castrated after the age of six months, you will need to make an appointment.
On the day of the appointment for castration or sterilisation, you should bring your cat around 9:00 AM. It is important that your cat is fasting. This means that from 8:00 PM the evening before the procedure, your cat should not eat anything. Drinking water is allowed. If your cat seems ill or if there are any particular concerns, please call us before the appointment. Your cat must be healthy and feel fit to undergo anaesthesia.
Your cat will be received by one of our assistants and given a place in our recovery area. It is comforting for your cat if you bring a blanket with the familiar scent of home. Before starting the anaesthesia, our veterinarian will examine your cat. We check, among other things, the heart, lungs, and body weight to ensure we have a clear assessment of your cat’s overall condition. Your cat will also receive a pain relief injection.
After the surgery, your cat can recover on a warming mat. Once he or she is fully awake and able to maintain their body temperature, you can take your cat home. When you pick up your cat (usually between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM), we will go over what you need to keep an eye on during the recovery period. You will receive this information in writing or by email. For the first few days after the castration/sterilisation, we will provide a liquid painkiller to take home.
