Vacancy Treasurer (volunteer)

Are you an animal lover and good with numbers?

Then we are looking for you!

As the oldest and one of the largest animal shelters in the Netherlands, we provide professional care and (medical) care for stray cats and dogs from the Hague region. As treasurer you are responsible for the financial policy and management of our animal shelter. You are part of the board and work closely with the president, secretary, management and board support and our accounting firm. Your duties include:

  • Advising the board on financial opportunities and risks
  • Preparing and monitoring the budget and financial statements with the accountant
  • Reviewing the financial position based on reports from our accountant
  • Checking the invoicing to clients
  • Monitoring the planned handling of special donations
  • Liaising with the bank the accountant and other relevant parties

What do we ask of you?

  • You have at least a relevant HBO education and experience in financial management, control and risk management
  • You are practical and able to optimize financial processes
  • You can advise on result maximization and asset management
  • Knowledge of billing processes and accountability is very welcome
  • You have an affinity with the goals and activities of the Hague Animal Center (see policyplan)
  • You are reliable, accurate, with integrity and transparent
  • You are willing to commit to the Hague Animal Center
  • for a minimum of two years

  • You are available for an average of four hours per week

The Hague Animal Center

We have entered our 148th year of operation and we have only been able to achieve this thanks to skilled and enthusiastic staff volunteers and administrators. There are currently 21 permanent staff and more than 100 volunteers working at the HDC.

The HDC has had its own veterinarian and veterinary clinic for more than 100 years.

The HDC is funded by government contributions, limited commercial activities and by the generous community support of our sponsors and donors.
