Meet our dogs. Ready for adoption
At our shelter, we have space for around 55 dogs. They come in all shapes and sizes, often abandoned on the street or tied to a tree in the park. Thankfully, there are also people who bring their pets in when they can no longer care for them.
The incoming dogs first spend two weeks in quarantine, giving the owner a chance to reclaim their pet. Once this legal period has passed, we can begin looking for a new home for them.
That doesn’t mean we can do this right after the two weeks. Two days after their arrival, the dogs are examined by our in-house veterinarian. They are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas.
During this time, the general condition of the dog is assessed, and any additional treatments are considered, such as dental care, neutering/spaying, or other necessary medical treatments.
During their stay, the primary caregivers get an impression of the dog’s character/behavior. The dog is also taken outside, so we can observe how they react to other dogs, other road users, and – in our neighborhood – horses.
Both medically and in cases of behavioral issues, everything is done to give the dog another chance at a happy home. We have our own internal clinic with two veterinarians and four assistants. In the dog department, we have certified caregivers/behavioral therapists who work with the dogs in a humane and animal-friendly manner.
Some dogs may have to wait longer for a new owner than others… but we always hope they will find their match, like Diablo (see the photo above), who, although no longer a young dog, still found a good home.
Choose an adoptable shelter dog, they are waiting for you!
