Relinquishing your dog to the Hague Animal Center.
Relinquishing your dog? That is never an easy decision. We understand that there are often many emotions involved. If you are forced to give up your dog, please contact our dog department by mail. In the subject of your email clearly mention DISTANCE, and include your name, address, phone number and the reason for giving up your dog. Based on this information, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss options and next steps.
Together we will look for an appropriate solution for you and your dog, with the welfare of the animal always coming first.
If you have to part with your faithful friend due to circumstances, we will help you and guide you on what to do best.
Making an appointment
We are only allowed to accept dogs from owners who live in the municipality of The Hague. We also make an exception for dogs that have been adopted from the shelter. Even if the owner no longer lives in The Hague, we can help in that case.
If you want to give up your dog please contact us. This can be done via email.
Rates
The costs for relinquishing a dog younger than 10 years are € 105,-. And for a dog of 10 years or older the costs are € 130,-.
If the dog is not spayed or neutered, the cost for spaying a dog (small) is €250, spaying a dog (large) €300. The castration costs for a small dog € 150,- and for a large dog € 175,-.
Any other costs such as vaccinations will also be charged.
Vaccinations
The vaccinations we require when taking in dogs:
Minimum 2 weeks old and maximum 3 years old.
Lepto: Minimum 2 weeks old and maximum 1 year old.
Vaccinations can also be done at the Hague Animal Center for a fee.
