Zaro got lucky: an update from his new home
Zaro, the tall, wild orange dog, has found a warm and loving home since February 9, 2024. From mid-2022 to February 2024, he stayed at the Haags Dierencentrum, where his striking appearance quickly made him stand out. Still, he had a complicated past and a list of points of attention that had to be taken into account.
A careful start
It wasn’t easy for Zaro to find a new home. His new family visited the HDC several times to get to know him better and get used to him. These visits were intense, but necessary to ensure that Zaro would end up in a safe and suitable environment.
A warm welcome
On February 9, Zaro was brought home with extra rugs, toys, and food. He was immediately enthusiastic and boisterous, just like during the visiting hours. His favorite spot quickly became the couch, but his bed and the cool laminate floor are also nice places for him.
Four months later: a happy dog
After four months, Zaro is a real addition to the family. He has a strong bond with the 14-year-old daughter, with whom he plays, cuddles, and watches TV on the couch. Together they go for walks in nature, where Zaro mostly runs off-leash and enjoys play and exercise. He also loves playing with other dogs, although his enthusiasm sometimes needs to be tempered a bit.
Social and cheerful
Zaro greets everyone enthusiastically, which is something he still needs to unlearn sometimes, but his loving character shines through everything. He enjoys attention, cuddles, and lying comfortably in his favorite spots. Despite his adult age of 5.5 years, he still shows a lot of playfulness and curiosity.
Grateful and happy
His family is incredibly happy with Zaro and grateful that the HDC brought him to them. Thanks to their patience, love, and care, Zaro is completely blossoming and feels fully at home.
