2025 was a year to be proud of at the Haags Dierencentrum. Thanks to the enormous dedication of our volunteers, not only was an incredible amount of work accomplished, but above all, there was a lot of warmth, care, and commitment—for the animals and for each other.
New volunteers
Over the past year, we welcomed new volunteers to the cat and dog departments, but the team also grew beyond that. From IT and marketing to events, communication, and legal support. More and more people are using their talents for animal welfare. We also welcomed new volunteers to the board, and several familiar faces enthusiastically took on new tasks.
Volunteer party
The fact that volunteering with us is about more than just helping was clear in June during the lively volunteer party. No fewer than thirteen volunteers were honored by Alderman Barker with a city pin for their years of dedication. A special moment of appreciation! That same month, volunteers helped out during the kitten adoption day, with a wonderful result: many kittens found a loving new home.
Open Day
The Open Day in October was also a great success, thanks in part to the efforts of countless volunteers. From cleaning and painting to promotion, providing lunch, and helping at the stalls. Everyone played their part. And that teamwork made the difference.
Personal gift
Throughout the year, volunteers were ready for animals needing extra care in the clinic. And the mother cats and kittens were given a safe place in foster care. Additionally, our volunteers were surprised on Volunteer Day with a personal gift made by students from the Koetsveldschool.
Christmas lunch
The year ended festively with a Christmas lunch, where Alderman Barker visited again with warm words and a platter of oliebollen. As a thank you, every volunteer took home a Christmas gift.
It shows once again: being a volunteer at the Haags Dierencentrum means being part of a committed, friendly, and driven team that truly makes a difference for animals together.
