We would like to share an update about Sacha (formerly Pasha) and Balou. What a fantastic first week they’ve had together. It felt right from the start and we are really enjoying how everything is going.
Settling into a new life at a steady pace
In the first few days, we consciously gave Sacha a lot of peace and quiet. He had to get used to Balou, to us, and to his new environment, both inside and out. It is, of course, a big change for him. We also notice that he misses the shelter team, who took such loving care of him for a long time. We, Sacha, and Balou are incredibly grateful for that.
Playing and relaxing together
Sacha and Balou are now feeling more and more at ease. They play and run through the house and garden together, eat and drink well, and Sacha sleeps wonderfully relaxed on the sofa on his own cushion. It’s beautiful to see how quickly he’s starting to feel at home.
Exploring the outdoors
Things are also going very well outdoors. Sacha even plays with other dogs; first a bit of sniffing and then a nice cuddle, on the lead of course. We go outside about five times a day now, sometimes together with Balou and sometimes just with us. When Sacha wants to go out, he makes it very clear by standing at the back door or gently tapping our leg with his paw. It’s funny to see every time.
New impressions step by step
Next week we’re carefully going a bit further from home, including to Hoek van Holland and the Vogelplas in Zoetermeer. This way we build it up slowly and ensure it’s not too many new impressions at once for Sacha.
Grateful and happy
Everything is going incredibly well and we hope Sacha is just as happy with his new spot as we are with him. For us, he is already a huge enrichment to our lives.
Hope to see you soon
We’ll be in touch soon to make an appointment so we can drop by with Sacha and Balou. We think Sacha will really enjoy seeing you again and perhaps getting some more advice.
