On March 1, we said goodbye to our dear cat Kyra, who was almost 18 years old. The grief was immense, but after a while, we noticed that we missed the care and love of a cat. We decided to look around the Haags Dierencentrum website again and made an appointment for March 16 at 2:00 PM.
For a fresh start, we brought a carrier with us, and all sorts of new supplies and toys were ready at home. During our visit, we first had a nice chat with Cassandra and Carlijn, who listened carefully to our wishes: we were looking for a cat between 8 months and 2 or 3 years old.
After about fifteen minutes, they came back with the news that there was actually only one cat available. That didn’t matter to us – we only wanted one. And it turned out to be exactly the cat we had already spotted: Pretzels, with those cute, mischievous eyes. We’ve renamed him Cody.
Cody is a real cuddle bug and a champion at giving headbutts. He’s playful, loves to cuddle, and enjoys sitting on your lap. Just an hour and a half after arriving home, he was already on my husband’s lap. He gets into plenty of mischief, but that’s exactly what makes him so wonderful and lively. His food allergy wasn’t a problem; we have special food ready for him.
In the evening, playtime starts around half past eight, and I often wonder who’s more tired: Cody or me! As soon as spring begins, we look forward to going into the garden together, with Cody in his outdoor enclosure.
It’s a real prrrrfect match. Cody brings playfulness, love, and joy into our home, and we’re so happy that he’s now part of our family.
