Hello dear followers of the Haags Dierencentrum! This is the Mecki_Lekkerbekkie adoption update. When my basket was still at the HDC, my name was Sjeffie. Two months ago, I moved to my forever home in the Alblasserwaard and I’ve been a happy camper ever since.
I found the ride home quite exciting. Locked in a carrier on the highway between trucks… phew! Still, I stayed sweet when my mom put her fingers through the openings. Once home, I felt safe immediately. That same night, I was already sleeping on the bed and wanted to explore the whole house.
My HDC description said I was a grumpy old man. Now it turns out that’s not the case at all! Without the stress of other cats, I can go wherever I want. I’m curious, climb on everything, and love sitting on the windowsill to watch the world go by. I regularly let Muis, the neighborhood cat, know who’s boss around here.
On my second day, I even saw film recordings with ‘Pieten’ for a well-known children’s news program – absolutely amazing! I love lying on a lap, especially after playing with my toy mouse. Because I’m on a strict diet for my sensitive tummy, I’m only allowed my own kibble. That works well: nice solid poops almost every day!
I also have my own Instagram now: mecki_lekkerbekkie. I’m very happy in my new home. For the holidays, I raised €130 for the HDC through my mom’s work. That way, I can help other animals find a nice home too.
