The HDC Kids Club is a club for true animal lovers aged 6 to 12. Four times a year, we organize a fun and educational Kids Club afternoon. During these afternoons, children discover how to interact well with animals and what happens at the animal shelter.

For true animal lovers aged 6 to 12
On Tuesday, October 20, we are organizing a super fun afternoon full of joy, crafts, and animals! For €5 per child, you get a stamp card, a coloring page, a craft project, and a wonderful afternoon where you learn everything about animals and their care.
What are we going to do?
- A tour of the animal center, including a look at the clinic where you can have your stuffed animal checked by the veterinarian
- Arts, crafts, and creative activities
- Lemonade and a delicious cookie
- Coloring activity
Practical information
- Start: 3:00 PM in the I-classroom
- End: Between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM
- Age: 6 to 12 years old
- Cost: €5 per child (stamp card, coloring page, and lemonade included)
- Clothing: Wear clothes that are allowed to get dirty
- Registration: required – full = full! (maximum of 10 children per afternoon)
The children are supervised by experienced staff and volunteers.
Information for parents: Parents are welcome to drop off and pick up their children. It is also possible to wait at the reception for a coffee or tea.
Stamp card
At the next Kids Club afternoon, every child will receive a stamp card. You might have already received one on the first day; if so, please bring it with you! You collect stamps on this card by participating in various activities. For example, you receive a stamp for completing a Kids Club afternoon. But that’s not all! You can also earn extra stamps: for instance, hand in your extra coloring page to get a stamp. Who knows, you might have the most beautiful coloring page and win a fun prize! Some activities will take place on different days, so you use the stamp card for multiple Kids Club afternoons. Children have several months (and even years) to fill their card. It is not mandatory to attend every time, though we would love to see you as often as possible!
The Kids Club is designed to be flexible: children can join whenever it suits them and collect stamps at their own pace.
What other activities can you earn a stamp for?
- Coloring an extra picture at home and handing it in at the HDC
- Fundraising (for example, collecting bottles for a donation or gathering food or toys for the dogs and cats)
- Make a thank-you gift for the volunteers. For example, write a nice card or craft something fun.
- Draw your favorite animal and hand in your drawing at the HDC
- Litter box race (not on the 19th)
- Bring your stuffed animal for a check-up with the vet (not on the 19th)
Why join?
Kids Club is not just fun, it’s educational too! Children discover through play how to treat animals well. During a tour and explanation, we show what the animal shelter does to care for, help, and prepare animals for a new home. In addition, they make new friends and participate in creative activities. They learn more about animal welfare and what the volunteers and staff do at the shelter. At the end of the afternoon, every child receives a small surprise and they all go home with a lot of new memories.
