Goodbye, dear Buddy
Some dogs leave a paw print that stays forever. Buddy is undoubtedly one of them. Last week, we said goodbye to this special friend, who reached the impressive age of 16.5 years. An age to be proud of, but above all, a life to look back on with love.
A best friend since 2011
In January 2011, Buddy went home from the Haags Dierencentrum. From that moment on, he was an inseparable part of the family. There was never a moment of doubt or regret. Buddy was an incredibly sweet dog, with a gentle character and a heart full of trust. There simply wasn’t a mean bone in his body.
Freedom, adventure, and being together
Buddy was lucky enough to live near the beach and dunes, where he could run and sniff around freely. He enjoyed that immensely. He went everywhere: day trips, holidays in the Netherlands, and even abroad. Wherever his people were, Buddy felt at home.
Growing old with dignity
Well into 2023, Buddy aged gracefully. He became a bit slower and calmer, but remained active and full of life. His white muzzle gave away his age, though many people were always surprised to hear how old he actually was. At the beginning of 2024, Buddy started suffering from osteoarthritis. Thanks to good care, his symptoms could be relieved. Although the last few months were sometimes difficult, he continued to enjoy his food and his familiar walks outside.
Gratitude and love
Gratitude prevails. Buddy was a loyal, loving companion for years and knew a life full of attention, freedom, and fun. His family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at the Haags Dierencentrum. Thanks to their dedication, Buddy didn’t just find a home, but a wonderful life.
