Dog missing? What you can do immediately
Is your dog missing? That is incredibly distressing. Fortunately, you can take steps right away to increase the chances of a quick reunion. The faster you act, the better.
Send an email as soon as possible to hond@haagsdierencentrum.nl with the subject line:
MISSING – dog’s name – color
Always include in your email:
Name, address, and phone number
Since when and where your dog has been missing
Whether your dog is microchipped (including chip number)
Clear photos of your dog
Photo of the vaccination certificate and chip number
The caretakers will then check if your dog has been brought in. In the event of a match or if the chip is scanned, we will contact you to make an appointment for collection.
Appointment made? This is important
Do you have an appointment? Please arrive on time and bring a valid ID. If you are unable to make it, please let us know in time. Please note: only debit card payments (PIN) are possible.
We are legally required to keep found animals in quarantine for 14 days. During this period, animals are vaccinated and microchipped if necessary. After this period, the shelter becomes the owner of the animal and rehoming may follow.
Shelter costs:
Dog: €27.50 per day
Cat: €17.50 per day
In addition, costs for microchipping, vaccinations, and any medical care will be charged.

Important information
We always check if an incoming dog is microchipped. If the details are publicly registered, we will contact the owner. Therefore, up-to-date chip registration is of great importance.
Please note: we cannot handle search requests by telephone.
