Your day at the cat department: Care with a keen eye
As a caretaker at the oldest animal shelter in the Netherlands, no two days are the same. You are the linchpin of our cat department, where you are responsible for the daily care of our cats. The work is physical and requires a real go-getter. Meanwhile, you observe the animals continuously. Thanks to your knowledge, you immediately spot medical abnormalities or behavioral changes, after which you take action in close consultation with our own veterinarians.
What will you be doing?
Daily care: You feed and care for the cats and ensure a sparkling clean living environment.
Medical check: You observe the animals with a keen eye, identify abnormalities, and coordinate directly with our internal veterinarians.
Customer contact: You advise potential new owners and help find the perfect ‘match’.
Collaboration: You work in a tight-knit team and supervise enthusiastic volunteers in the department.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic go-getter who is confident and resilient. You have good communication skills and can work well both independently and as part of a team.
Your profile:
Education: A completed MBO degree in Animal Care or Paraveterinary studies.
Experience: Affinity with the animal shelter sector (e.g., through an internship or volunteer work).
Mentality: You don’t mind physical cleaning work and are a real doer.
Availability: You work 32 hours per week on a fixed schedule (08:00 – 17:00), including weekends.
Practical: Good command of the Dutch language and living in (the region of) The Hague.

Our employment conditions:
Salary: A starting salary of €2,295.00 gross per month (based on 36 hours).

Employment: A full-time position (32-36 hours) in a fixed and committed team.
