On April 4, a delegation from the Party for the Animals (PVDD) visited Haags Dierencentrum. The purpose of the visit: to get to know the daily activities of our volunteers and see how we care for stray animals and help rehome them.
Every year, hundreds of animals are dumped in The Hague, including dogs, cats, and rabbits. Fortunately, animal welfare organizations take these animals in, care for them, and find them a new home. Still, many organizations struggle to make ends meet. Thanks to Alderman Robert Barker, the HDC was able to secure a better contract with the municipality, ensuring that the duty of care for animals is actually fulfilled.
During the visit, the PVDD members were given a tour of the shelter. They were very enthusiastic and found the explanation about the care of former stray animals educational and inspiring. Of course, there were plenty of “ohhh” and “ahhh” moments upon seeing all those lovely cats and dogs. It emphasizes once again that all these animals deserve a loving home.
