The Haags Dierencentrum recently welcomed the Alderman for Animal Welfare for an inspiring working visit. During this visit, the focus was on the daily operations of the animal center, as well as the challenges and plans for the future.
Daily care for dogs and cats
At the Haags Dierencentrum, staff work hard every day to ensure the well-being of dogs and cats. Dental treatments are a regular occurrence, and animals with behavioral issues also receive intensive guidance. The goal is clear: to guide animals as quickly as possible, but above all responsibly, to a nice and permanent new home.
Challenges and plans for 2024
In addition to daily animal care, the Haags Dierencentrum is looking ahead to 2024. A major challenge is making the building more sustainable. The animal center aims to use renewable energy sources as much as possible. For instance, installing infrared panels in the animal enclosures and solar panels on the roof are high on the agenda.
These sustainable investments not only lead to lower energy bills but also contribute to a comfortable and stable indoor climate for the animals.

The alderman’s visit underlines the importance of animal welfare in the region and the valuable role the Haags Dierencentrum plays in it. The open discussions and shared ambitions made this visit particularly valuable.
