As a supporter of the Haags Dierencentrum, you make our work possible every day. That’s why we think it’s incredibly important to be transparent about exactly where your contribution goes. Because with your support, we do much more than just provide a roof over the heads of the dogs and cats in our care.
Together, we ensure a complete, healthy, and loving new start for every animal that comes to us. But what does that mean in practice?
1. Medical care and specialist surgeries Many animals come to us neglected, injured, or sick. In our own clinic, we examine every animal thoroughly. Your contribution helps us directly cover the costs of necessary surgeries, vaccinations, dental treatments, and vital medication.
2. Specialized, tailored food No two animals are the same. Seniors, animals with severe food allergies, or recovering animals often need special dietary food to regain their strength. Thanks to your support, the right, balanced meals are always ready for them.
3. Mental well-being and restoring trust Physical health is important, but mental well-being is just as vital. Our expert caregivers and trainers work daily on behavioral therapy, socialization, and building trust. In addition, we invest in enrichment, such as challenging toys and safe play areas where the dogs and cats are mentally stimulated.
4. A warm and stress-free stay From clean blankets, scratching posts, and soft beds to a heated enclosure in the winter: we do everything we can to make their time in the shelter as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Can I also support specific projects or animals with my donation?
Yes, you certainly can! With a general donation, we use the money where the need is greatest at that moment (such as medical care or food). Would you rather help in a more targeted way? Then you can contribute specifically to things like medical equipment, the layout of play areas, or a specific animal in our care.
How can I be sure my money is being put to good use?
Transparency is our top priority. As a recognized organization, we are accountable for every euro received. In our annual report and via updates on the website and social media, we show exactly how many animals we have helped and what the money was spent on.
Why do shelter animals sometimes need special food or extra care?
Many animals come to us as strays or have been neglected due to circumstances. They often struggle with allergies, joint problems, dental issues, or being underweight. To get them completely healthy and strong again for adoption, customized nutrition and medical care are necessary.
Is it possible to donate monthly instead of a one-off?
Absolutely. With a monthly contribution, you give us financial stability, allowing us to ensure the continuity of our care in the long term as well. You can always easily adjust or stop the amount and frequency yourself.
Are donations to the Haags Dierencentrum tax-deductible?
Yes, the Haags Dierencentrum has ANBI status (Public Benefit Organization). This means that your donation is tax-deductible under certain conditions, making it even more attractive to give.
Can I donate items in addition to a financial contribution?
Certainly! Clean towels, blankets, unopened food, and toys that are easy to clean are always very welcome. Please contact us beforehand or check our wishlist on the website to see what is currently needed most.
