Your legacy, their second chance
For almost 150 years, the Haags Dierencentrum has been a safe haven for stray animals and surrendered dogs and cats from the The Hague region. Every day, we work hard to offer these animals not just shelter, but a new start. To us, a legacy is more than a gift; it is a structural investment in professional care.
Thanks to contributions from wills, we can continue to act quickly in the future when an animal in distress desperately needs our help. Whether it’s a complex surgery, necessary dental treatment, or intensive behavioral guidance to make a dog rehomable again: your involvement makes it possible.
What does your gift contribute to?
Every euro from a legacy fully benefits the animals. Because we have ANBI status (Public Benefit Organization), we do not pay inheritance tax. Your gift therefore goes 100% toward the care of our residents.
With a legacy, you contribute to, among other things:
- Food and daily care: Your contribution ensures healthy meals and the daily attention that every animal needs.
- Toys and enrichment: Thanks to donations, we can provide play materials that are essential for the mental stimulation and happiness of the animals during their stay.
- Behavioral guidance and training: We invest in professional training and guidance to make animals social and ready for rehoming.
- Warm and clean enclosures: Your support contributes to optimal hygiene and the maintenance of safe, warm kennels where the animals can find peace.
- Medical care: From necessary surgeries and dental treatments to preventive care such as vaccinations and microchip registration.
- Guidance to a new home: We ensure an intensive and careful process to find the perfect match and a loving new future for every animal.
Care for your own animal after you pass away
A common concern for pet owners is: “What happens to my own faithful four-legged friend when I’m no longer here?”. The Haags Dierencentrum offers peace of mind and certainty in this regard.
When you include us in your will, you can make arrangements for the care of your own pet. We will take in your animal with love, provide stability, and search with the greatest care for a new, suitable home that matches your wishes. This way, you never have to worry about their future.
How do you arrange this?
Leaving a legacy to a charity might sound complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. You always arrange this through a notary. There are roughly two ways:
- A legacy: You leave a specific amount or asset (such as a home).
- An inheritance: You name the Haags Dierencentrum as a (co-)heir to a
percentage of your estate.
