Animal Shelter Cats
Found a cat or dog? If you’ve found an animal, it’s important to know what steps to take. The best thing to do is call the regional animal ambulance at 070-328 28 28. Many animals that are found end up in a shelter, where they get a second chance at a better life. When a cat is brought in, it is first checked by our veterinarian. The cat then stays in a separate room for two weeks. This room houses all newly arrived cats. They don’t come into physical contact with each other, but they can see one another. This gives a potential owner the opportunity to reclaim their cat. After two weeks, the cat becomes the property of The Hague Animal Center and moves into a shared room with other cats. Shelter animals often experience a lot of stress in a new environment, so it’s important to rehome them as soon as possible and give them a second chance.
Adopting a Cat
When you adopt a cat, you’re welcoming a new family member into your home. A cat is a living being with its own needs and personality. Before adopting, you should carefully consider whether you can provide the proper care and attention. Our shelter offers a wide selection of cats looking for a new home.
Rehoming a Cat
Sometimes, a cat needs to be rehomed due to changes in lifestyle or health issues. If you are considering rehoming your cat, it’s important to contact our shelter first. Once we agree to take the cat in, the owner signs a surrender form and pays a surrender fee. From that moment, The Hague Animal Center becomes the legal owner and the cat can be placed with a new family.
Adopting Adult Cats
Adult cats are usually already house-trained and familiar with a home environment, making them a great choice for anyone seeking a calm, stable companion. Our shelter also has many kittens waiting for new owners. In general, adult male and female cats tend to be calmer than kittens. If you’re looking for a feline companion, The Hague Animal Center is happy to help!
Cat Care at the Shelter
Our shelter specializes in the care of cats. The Hague Animal Center offers a wide range of services, from medical care to safe accommodation. Our staff is happy to advise you on adopting the right cat.
Support an Animal Shelter
Providing (medical) care for shelter cats involves high costs. We depend heavily on donors and sponsors. Without your support, we can’t help the animals. Please support us and become a donor. The Hague Animal Center has ANBI status, which means your donation goes entirely to the benefit of the shelter animals.
